I’m sharing with you my most used and loved products of the past month, April.

Face favorites include MAC blushes in Fleur Power and Warm Soul. I go for MAC Fleur Power when I want to liven things up, as it’s my favorite warm toned pink-coral and I remember using it on clients and brides all the time last spring/summer. MAC Warm Soul is also a veteran favorite of mine and many, many other MAC devotees. It’s been described as a mid-tone beige with a gold pearlescence, and though I can see what they mean I feel the need to add ‘burnt peach’ to that description, if that makes any sense at all. It never looks too overdone, always just right but buildable if you’d like. It’s just so versatile and easy in use, a real no-brainer.

I’ve recently picked up the much fussed about Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light. I’ve not yet figured out how I feel about this, but I must say I’ve enjoyed applying it and seeing how it looks on me, especially in daylight and in pictures. I’ll report back on this when I’ve made up my mind.

Eyes-wise, I’ve kept it fairly natural as per usual (although now spring and summer’s in sight, I’m keen to bring out the brights again!) and have particularly liked using the MAC Paint in Sublime Nature for a quick wash on the lids before I head out to work. It’s a cool beige-brown with a soft sheen to it, almost like a cool golden shade like MAC’s Sweet Satisfaction. It’s lightweight and buildable in opacity. For days when I felt like adding a bit more to my eye make-up or just felt like really bringing out ma green gazers, I reached for my ole trusting companion, MAC Teddy Eye Kohl. This fella is my all time favorite eye pencil, ever. It’s a red-toned dark bronzed brown with subtle golden shimmer that gets along with everyone. It’s creamy enough to smoke it out, as I mostly do, but sets like a dream. Honestly, such a nice guy that Teddy.

And last for eyes, but certainly not least is the Yves Saint-Laurent Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in plain ole black. I think I’ve found my newest lash addiction. It’s absolutely brilliant! Buildable without clumping, just enough volume and just enough length and definition. My only quarrel is that it can smudge just the tiniest bit, but I’ll gladly accept that as it’s just such a good mascara in the whole.

For brows I’ve started switching between my trusted routine, which includes using MAC’s Dirty Blonde along with Omega and Mystery, to also enjoying using MAC’s Paint Pot in Tailor Grey to fill them in, as it matches my brows to perfection. I still prefer Dirty Blonde for its longevity and pigmentation and all that, but Tailor Grey is a nice alternative when I want to go for a more subtle brow. I’ve also really loved using the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe for when I’m using Tailor Grey. I might even pick this duo up in a darker color, it’s that good.

On to lips now! I just can’t seem to get enough of my newest love, MAC Pure Zen, paired with MAC’s Nice ‘n’ Spicy or Boldly Bare. I’m loving the neutral, light lip. For days when I’m keen to pink it all up, MAC’s newest lip pencil in Edge To Edge has got me good. Lovely with Pink Plaid or Snob on top.

For days when I’m not looking for a full-on lip but crave a little something, the Dior Addict Lip Glow has been a nice treat. It’s supposed to be a sheer lip balm that will enhance and revive your own natural lip color. There’s also an SPF of 10 added to it and some mango butter and all that good stuff in order to properly nourish and protect the kissers. It gives my lips a loverly pink tint whilst moisturizing them without making them sticky. It’s a good’un.

Shockingly enough, there’s a new favorite in the hair care department. Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish has been my newest fixation (pun pun pun). It’s a finishing spray designed to add texture and volume to the hair without making it feel crispy or sticky. It’s like a mixture between a lightweight hairspray and dry shampoo, which makes sense as it contains silk powder. I dunno bruv, I can’t fault it, it does what it claims and it’s amazeballs. What more do we want? (Pizza. The answer is always pizza.)

As a luxury treat, I’ve been slapping on the Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Mask once or twice a week to boost hydration and just soothe it. It’s a creamy mask that feels comforting on the skin and replenishes the skin, making it radiant and fresh looking again. I have noticed a difference in the clarity of my skin and certainly the texture. It’s all soft like a baby’s tushie.

I’ve quickly converted to being a full-blown fragrance fanatic, and my collection has expanded exponentially in the last few months, and thus every month I’m discovering new loves. The Narciso Rodriguez For Her Hair Mist has been the perfect escort to its namesake EDT that I’ve been using for a while now. As the name claims, it’s designed to be used on the hair as it contains more conditioning and thus less damaging properties. I love using hair perfumes as they’re much more subtle and in some ways more long-lasting. This one has just been a handbag staple this past month and therefore worth mentioning.

As some of you might already know, I’m what you can call a ‘Clarisonic ambassador’ since of late. Needless to say, I am completely pro Clarisonic’s ideas and values and, obviously, their skin cleaning system. For personal use I purchased the Clarisonic Mia2 and have not looked back since. I can’t begin to describe how much love this little device has been getting, but be sure that I will write a full-on in depth review of it soon. I just had to mention it in this favorites post, as that’s exactly what it is: a favorite, and a holy grail one at that.

I found the perfect product to pair it with, too: the Shiseido Ibuki Gentle Cleanser. Shiseido’s Ibuki line is devised to train the skin-carrier cells to remember their healthy shape, and is as such an anti-aging line for women in their 20s. This one’s a foaming cleanser, and a very effective one at that, too. You only need the teensiest amount to work up a serious lather, so I can see this tube lasting me eons. It’s a brilliant, thorough cleanser that really helped me up clean and clear my skin up even more, certainly when used with Clarisonic. And it smells sooooo goooood.

My latest lipbalm of choice has been the EOS Honeysuckle Honeydew. Besides from its not only adorable but also very practical packaging, it really helped with smoothing out and softening my lips. It’s intensely hydrating without being sticky, and keeps my lips hydrated for a pretty decent time – longer than most I’ve tried. Other than that it tastes aaaa-maaaa-ziiiing. SERIOUSLY.

And to round off this April’s beauty favorites, Essie Mint Candy Apple gets an honourable mention as being one of my favorite nail polishes in this life. Bootiful.
