MARCH BEAUTY FAVOURITES

It’s that time again where I talk about products I’ve been loving since the beginning, middle or end of March or have re-discovered and fallen in love with all over again these past few weeks.

It’s that time again where I talk about products I’ve been loving since the beginning, middle or end of March or have re-discovered and fallen in love with all over again these past few weeks. There’s a conspicuous amount of MAC products in this post, which may have something to do with the fact that I’ve started working at MAC (triple yay with balloons!) since the beginning of March, and have completely submerged myself in all of the loveliness that they have in store. It’s been delicious and I have felt right at home. But anyways, let’s get on with this (hopefully) concrete recap of my March favorites!

Maybelline The Falsies Flared Mascara I have been trying out a decent few new mascaras these past weeks, along with trying to use up some of the ones that have been lying in my make-up drawer, in dire need of getting some TLC before going bad on me. Amongst the latter was this mascara by Maybelline. At first I didn’t like this mascara too much, as it gave me a tad too many clumps to my tasting. But, as time has gone on and this mascara has dried up a little more, I’ve began loving it. I know the original version of this has gotten much positive vibes on various beauty blogs and such, so maybe I’ll go on and give that one a try, too, but for now I’m happy to use this one up as it’s been brilliant in giving me a natural, voluminious and lengthy look to my lashes – without clumping!

MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation in NW13 I’ve mentioned this foundation in my last post, a spring make-up look, as being a fervent holy grail candidate. I have only gone on loving it more and more since writing up that post. I have a serious case of combination skin, and this helps me contain oils like no other foundation has done – or maybe Studie Fix Fluid is a tad better at that, but it makes my non-oily zones look quite dull at that, so I much prefer the Pro Longwear one. I’m not expecting miracles, like it making my oils cease to say hello throughout the day, but it’s been wonderfull at holding up, not caking up and looking lovely and satin on my skin. Pretty much the only foundation that is suitable for those long, warm days at work!

MAC eyeshadows in Omega and Mystery So, a while back I talked about the Anastasia Brow Powder in Ash Blonde, and about it perhaps surpassing my love for MAC Omega. Well, it hasn’t. It just doesn’t give me that natural brow color that Omega gives me. Lately I’ve been pairing Omega with Mystery, for that ombre brow look that seems to be quite popular these days, and these two eyeshadows are a winning duo for me when it comes to that. Natural yet defined – just how I like my brows to look. And they stay put like no other, especially with some (tinted) brow gel. I’ve gotten so many compliments about my brows lately, and I attribute it to these two – and perhaps a teeny tiny bit to myself.

MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder in Light I’ve been a vast fangirl of the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, as many MAC-lovers are, but I always struggled with its staying power on my oily zones. Then along the Studio Careblend Pressed Powder came. It’s not specifically targeted at combination to oily skintones – Blot Powder and Studio Fix Powder are more suitable for that -, but it’s been doing fine at delaying it without looking too heavy and powdery on my skin. It has the most velvet feel to it, and it almost looks airbrushed when you apply it. On lazy days, I even wear this paired with a bit of concealer and be done with it. I’d say it’s light to medium coverage, and I do spray it with some Fix+ afterwards for extra fixation and less powderiness. Perfect for those who love the MSN, but crave a little more coverage and lasting power.

MAC Prep + Prime CC Colour Correcting Compact in Adjust It’s never been easy for me to find a contour powder that doesn’t look orange or muddy on me, and I’ve loved MAC’s Sculpting Powder in Sculpt, but have been on the lookout for an ever softer one for everyday use. That’s when this new powder comes in. I love it for defining my face a bit more, but in a very subtle and natural manner. It’s a slightly taupe skin color, which fits the bill for very fair skinned people perfectly. No muddiness, no Oompa Loompa; just a subtle contour.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose I can’t even begin describing the frenzy this product enduced a few years back, so when MAC brought this back in their Fantasy of Flower collection, I was delirious with excitement. Alas, it swatches entirely different from the much raved about version. This version is a light warm-toned peach with a metallic silver-copper sheen, as apposed to the more pink coral that has been brought out before. I didn’t purchase that one when it came out, as it was sold out almost instantly, but I love this version equally. As I’m quite fair, I can use this on its own. It’s a beaut, and it warms and highlights my skin so nicely, I wouldn’t wanna be without it – ever.

MAC Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby I’m always up for trying out products that bring life and definition to my fair skin, without looking muddy or unnatural in general. Well, Blushbaby has become a new favorite in that. It’s a very versatily shade, as I’ve applied it to fair to medium skintones and seen it look gorgeous on both. It’s a dusty brown-pink shade, making it the perfect blusher to pair with a more heavy eye make-up. On myself, it gives me a soft contour effect and adds a lovely dusty pink color to the cheeks. It gives great definition without look too overdone. I’ve recommended this particular shade to many gals who are new to using blush and want to start out with something subtle. Also perfect for those who want more defined cheekbones, but can’t be bothered with applying both a contour powder and a blush. It’s a perfect, all-round natural looking blush shade. Very similar to my other beloved blusher, NARS Douceur, but softer.

That’s all folks! I’ve been trying out loads of new and exciting products, so look out for my next favorites blog post!

Have a nice Sunday and an even nicer Monday xxx
