In this post I’ve swatched a selection of my most favorite M.A.C. lipsticks.

I’m a serious lipstick devotee. I’ve got more lipsticks than fits in my drawers, but it’s all good and it’s all right ‘cause I’ve got a heart that’s big enough to adore them all. I’ve got a selection of brands that strike my fancy when it comes to decorating those puckers, but there’s no denying that M.A.C. still reigns over lipstick land.

In this post I’ve swatched a selection of my most favorite M.A.C. lipsticks. I’ve chosen them on grounds of usage, uniqueness and general worthiness of mentioning.

I think it’s fairly needless to say that my collection’s a bit more elaborated than what I’ve already swatched for you, but I’ve tried my hardest to be as selective as I could, because as I’ve mentioned before, being concise is not my strong suit. And as if that wasn’t torture enough I’ve even gone to the trouble of mentioning the crème de la crème out of the already favorited selection, as do I explain why I’ve not included some much hyped about lipsticks.

Let the lipstick lovin’ commence!

Top row: Shanghai Spice, Ravishing, Shy Shine, Coral Bliss, Fleur D’Coral (LE), See Sheer, Flamingo, Costa Chic, Crosswires
Bottom row: Angel, Creme Cup, Peach Blossom, Brave, Snob, Lavender Whip (LE), Please Me, Lipblossum, Fanfare, Chatterbox

CREME DE LA CREME: Shy Shine, Fleur D’Coral (or Coral Bliss since that one was LE), Crosswires, Peach Blossom and Snob.

Bottom Row: Up The Amp, Pink Nouveau, Pink Pigeon, Good Kisser, Show Orchid, Violetta, Heroine, Viva Glam Miley Cyrus, La Vie En Rouge (LE), Toying Around (LE)

CREME DE LA CREME: Pink Pigeon, Show Orchid, VG Miley Cyrus and La Vie En Rouge.

Top Row:
Lady Danger, M.A.C. Red, All Fired Up, Viva Glam I, Frank-N-Furter (LE), Hearts Aflame (LE)

CREME DE LA CREME: As two of them were limited edition, my absolute favorite would be Viva Glam I. There’s no darkened red as perfect as this one.

Bottom Row: Kinda Sexy, Velvet Teddy, Modesty, Mocha, Retro, Fashion Revival (LE)

CREME DE LA CREME: This is a hard one! I really like all of these, but if I had to choose I wouldn’t wanna be without Kinda Sexy, Mocha and Retro. They’re all so very unique and lovely and just very much my style.

Top Row: Hip ‘n Happy, Edge To Edge, Whirl, Subculture, Boldly Bare, Nice ‘n’ Spicy, Staunchly Stylish, Morning Coffee, Stripdown
Bottom Row: In Anticipation, Lasting Sensation, Fruit Cocktail, What A Blast, Shock Value, Magenta, Heroine, Cherry, Beet, Mahogany, Burgundy, Nightmoth

CREME DE LA CREME: I’ve never liked any lip pencils more than I like these, but the ones that I hold dearest are Boldly Bare, Edge To Edge and Beet. If I would only have these three for the rest of my life, I’d be fairly content.

Top Row: Faux, Brave, Diva, Frank-N-Furter (LE), Lingering Kiss (LE)
Middle Row: Ruby Woo, M.A.C. Red
Bottom Row: Candy Yum-Yum, Pink Pigeon, Kelly Yum-Yum (LE)

I think Brave is a much more lively and wearable shade, albeit as you can see on the image above, there’s not that much difference when swatched. Faux’s got so hyped up thanks to the whole Kylie Jenner thing and though I own it and do use it from time to time, I much prefer Brave to it.

Ruby Woo
This must be one of MAC’s best selling lipsticks ever. And though I love the shade to bits, I can’t cope with the formula of this particular one. I much prefer NARS’ Dragon Girl to it, which is extremely similar and both are matte, but Ruby Woo is just too damn chalky for my liking. I’ve swatched M.A.C. Red next to it, not because it’s the most similar version of it, but because it’s my all time favorite blue toned red that MAC has in their collection, and I love the satin finish.

Candy Yum-Yum
I love the uniqueness of this lipstick, but I much prefer wearing Pink Pigeon. Candy Yum-Yum is an extremely bright shade, and I notice myself reaching for Pink Pigeon or even Kelly-Yum-Yum (LE) way more than I do Candy-Yum-Yum. They’re all mattes, though Candy feels a bit more drying on me.

Diva might be MAC’s second best selling shade, or at least I noticed it being ridiculously popular in autumn and winter. I like it and I might occasionally wear it, but I reach for shades like Frank-N-Further or Lingering Kiss way more than I do Diva. I just prefer wearing a more red toned lipstick and darkening it up to my liking with for example Burgundy or Nightmoth. Don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s one of the best, if not the best, burgundy lipsticks out there – I just don’t reach for it often enough for it to be in my favorites.
